Inis Mór - Aran Islands - Ireland
The Aran Islands
The three Aran Islands, Inis Oírr, Inis Meáin and Inis Mór, are in West of Ireland. They lie like three strung beads off the Galway coast in the Atlantic Sea.
The islands have been places of pilgrimage and settlements for monasteries over many centuries. Some of the old Celtic traditions and rituals are still alive and practised by the islanders. These traditions are all rooted in the deep connection to the wild, raw island nature. Honouring the land and its ancestors comes naturally here, as well as a sense of respect towards the islanders, the caretakers of this land.
"Finding inspiration in nature helped me to reconnect to my own inner nature."
Inis Mór and Retreat House
The Yoga retreats take place on Inis Mór, the largest of the three islands. Inis Mór or Árainn is 14km long, 3km wide, covered in a woven pattern of fields and dry stone walls. The ferry docks on the east side of the island and the Earth Sea Sky Yoga retreat house lies in the village of Bungabhla, at the remote west end of "the Rock”.
The house is surrounded by wild, rugged nature, the openness of the sea, vast sky all around and lots of silence. The Yoga room has a glass front overlooking the ocean. The remoteness of this place supports unwinding, listening and facilitates diving deep into the Yoga practice.
Accommodations: 2 single and 1 shared ensuite rooms.
Home cooked meals
At the retreat you will enjoy an abundant breakfast and a nutritious dinner, shared in a relaxed group setting. Snacks and fresh fruit are available during the day . All the food is home cooked and vegetarian, as much as possible seasonal and local. It feels just like being at home.
